Make your own earrings in this hands-on workshop
This is a beginner’s level class, ages 16 & up
Workshop is 11-3pm on April 12th
Learn how to make your own earrings in this 4 hour workshop with metalsmith Ann Kathryn Kehoe.
What you will learn:
how to use a jeweler’s saw to cut out designs from brass or sterling silver sheet
how to use hammers & stamps to create texture & pattern
how to use a drill press
how to finish a piece using files & sand paper
how to wire wrap beads using headpins
All tools needed for the workshop will be provided in the studio. With the materials included in this workshop cost, you’ll be able to explore new techniques as well as make up to three pairs of earrings. Please understand that each student will work at their own pace & will have differing capabilities. You can expect to leave this class with at least one finished pair of earrings. Additional materials, such as brass sheet, sterling silver sheet or additional earwires, will be available for purchase during your workshop.

What you can expect
You’ll be working with a small jewelers saw, hammers, files & a drill press to make your own unique brass or sterling silver jewelry designs in this 4 hour workshop. Metalsmith & jewelry designer, Ann Kathryn, will guide you through the design process & assist you wherever needed throughout the workshop. Students are encouraged to try each technique demonstrated, however, you are free to apply whatever techniques appeal to you in your own designs. This classroom setting is geared towards community, playful exploration & guided learning- this is a safe, respectful environment & all are welcome. The tools used in this workshop are relatively safe, however, when improperly used they can cause injury. Please acknowledge that safety procedures will be followed & eye protection is mandatory (this will be provided). Additionally, please bring something to tie back long hair & wear close-toes shoes. Feel free to bring snacks or lunch.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to participate in the workshop you signed up for, you may cancel for a full refund up to a week in advance. If within 7 days of your workshop, you may reschedule for another class in the future, or may use the credit towards anything on my website.
Please note, at least 4 students must enroll in this workshop for class to be confirmed. In the case that 3 or less students have signed up for a class date, the class will be canceled & students will be notified on the Monday prior to the workshop start date. If class is canceled, you will have the option to participate in another class or your money will be refunded in full.
